Moss Landing Cafe sits comfortably by the seaside at 421 Moss Landing Rd, offering a casual spot where locals and travelers alike gather for breakfast and fresh seafood. This full-service restaurant has a distinctly relaxed, coastal vibe—part of the fishing town’s rhythm—where you can come for a hearty start to the day or a laid-back lunch with views that capture Moss Landing’s unique waterfront character.

The atmosphere leans into comfort and community, with a modest dining room that fills steadily on weekend mornings and early afternoons. You’ll find a mix of surfers, local workers, and families popping in after a beach or harbor outing. The owner’s hands-on approach adds a sense of genuine small-town hospitality, making it feel like a spot where the kitchen knows regulars by name.

Cuisine-wise, the menu reflects Moss Landing’s maritime roots with a focus on fresh seafood prepared simply and satisfyingly. Dishes like fish and chips and the California Fish Sandwich—topped with jack cheese and avocado—stand out as reliably fresh and generously portioned. The fried artichoke hearts and calamari come recommended for their crisp texture and lively sauces, offering a local twist that pairs well with cold beer or a strong cup of coffee. Breakfast favorites such as crab and shrimp huevos rancheros or the Moss Landing scramble — a mix of crab, shrimp, artichokes, mushrooms, and tomatoes — highlight the café’s penchant for surf-and-turf breakfasts that bring the ocean’s bounty to the plate.

The best time to visit is in the morning through early afternoon, when you can enjoy a mix of breakfast and lunch items and watch the waves roll in beyond the windows. Parking is straightforward, and the casual setting means drop-ins work well whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or bringing the whole family after a surf session.

While the café offers a straightforward dining experience, it doesn’t shy away from showcasing local flavors and seafood highlights in a way that reflects the community’s connection to the bay. It’s particularly suited for those who appreciate honest, unfussy food—fresh fish grilled or fried, local artichokes in various iterations, and hearty breakfast plates to fuel a day outdoors.

In short, Moss Landing Cafe feels like an extension of the town itself: modest, welcoming, and focused on the simple pleasure of good food near the water.

The sweet and spicy calamari had amazing sauce, the jalapeño peppers were spicy, the fish and chips were tasty good size serving, fried artichokes were very yummy, the skirt steak was tender but a little over marinated. Beer was nice and cold.

The restaurant owner, Humberto is a model example of pride, hospitality, quality and excellence for small business establishments. This will be our new weekend get away. Loved his deep fried artichokes and sauce and eggs Benedicts.

Nice fresh seafood. Fish n chips fresh crisp and tasty. Oysters on the half shell both bbq baked and raw were excellent. An added bonus is clear view of the Moss Landing power plant where a battery fire occurred earlier this year. This idyllic seaside area doesn’t really need a battery facility that can and did cause local environmental harm.

Me and buddy do a surf trip year and we decided to try this place out for breakfast. This place is unbelievable good and the service is great. We have come here three days in a row and it’s been great every single time. It’s been so good we decided to hit out friend on game and she going to love it. Very scrumptious would eat again. So game

Local Cafe within walking distance of the annual Moss Landing Street Fair. Had the California Eggs Benedict, which was delicious. There's no air conditioning so it can get a bit stuffy when it's packed. Service is a little slow but friendly. Nice to have a sit down restaurant. Definitely better than eating outdoors from the food trucks.

Service was wonderful, food was tasty. Best hashbrowns I've ever had at a restaurant! Coffee was pretty great, too! Cute little place off the beaten path. Lots of options for breakfast. Great options for lunch, too. Very clean, welcoming, and overall delightful.

After dropping off our son for his first day of kindergarten, my wife needed a mimosa to help her adjust. It was our first time at Moss Landing Cafe and we were extremely happy with our visit. We shared a bowl of Clam Chowder(which may have been my favorite ever) and some French fried artichokes(delicious!) It was early, but the breakfast crowd had already started bubbling in. We were lucky to find a parking spot and an open table immediately. The staff were cheerful and friendly. The restaurant was very small, quaint, and clean. I can’t say enough how reflective the cafe is of Moss Landing culture and vibe. Can’t wait to return!
